There are two separate elements to the grading system, fitness and skill. As the grading system is a general guide, feel free to contact us if you are unsure of where you fit in.
Level 1: Occasionally cycles at a leisurely pace for 1-2 hours and prefers flat trails with little climbing.
Level 2: Cycles twice per week for 2-3 hours and likes rolling trails with some climbs.
Level 3: Cycles up to three times per week at a reasonable pace for 4 hours plus with breaks and is capable of riding long climbs.
Level 4: Fitness fanatic or racer who loves climbing all day on any terrain.
Level A: Can cycle a bike but only on smooth paved ground and likes to remain seated at all times.
Level B: Can cycle on loose gravel off road trails typically at trail centres but strays away from any demanding terrain such as rocks and roots.
Level C: Can cycle on technical off road trails with rocks, roots, steep descents and small drops with control and consistency.
Level D: Comfortable on extremely technical trails.
We cater for all level, read our fitness and skill grading system here.

Our Italian trip has taken us to Lake Garda in northern Italy for the past 8 years! Lake Garda has some of the best natural mountain bike trails in the world, with mountains rising from sea level to over 2000 meters high. We personalise each mountain bike holiday to suit your needs to ensure you have a truly unforgettable experience. We choose to base ourselves in a town called Ronzo, in the mountains above Lake Garda. Ronzo is located in an organic farming village away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Top mountain bike magazines MBR and Dirt Magazine have chosen the Biking.ie Team to show them the best trails in the area.
One of our Team will meet you in person on arrival at the airport and we will make our way to the hotel in our air conditioned van. On arrival to Lake Garda we are welcomed with an aperitif at the hotel's cafe bar.
If you need to rent a bike, we take some time to set the bike up correctly for you then we hit the trails for the first time in the bella Italia. The first day is an introduction to the area, getting used to the climbs and the descents around Lake Garda. Normally we stay in Val di Gresta taking in The Snake trail.
Sunday is family day in Italy and the hills come alive. As we are nicely warmed up from Saturday we aim to take in a loop around Mt Velo, the mountain biking mountain. On this mountain bike ride we take in Passa Bordala and the stunning views that come with it. And don't forget to look out for the Slabness mountain bike trail; you'll know when you come to it!
A much needed break from the bike after yesterday's efforts... You are on holidays after all, so why not take a massage or spend the day swimming and sunning it up by Lake Garda. Lake Garda is the outdoor sporting capital of Europe so there are plenty of activities to keep everyone one happy.
Back in the saddle again to ride the trenches of World War 1 high on Mt Creino. This is one of the more technical bike rides in the area taking in some steep rocky descents and nice technical climbs. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then don't worry- there are many different mountain bike routes around Mt Creino so there really is something for everyone.
This ride is the Mt Stivo mountain bike Epic! Lots of single track, stunning views and a well earned après bike drink! Mt Stivo sits high above the northern end of Lake Garda and is full of great descents including the aptly names 666 trail.
It's a lovely lake side trail to finish off the holiday. Starting out on the old road Via Panale at Riva del Garda and heading up towards the Ledro valley on the western flank of Lake Garda. The first half of the ride is a climb and the second is an amazing descent. The downhill section has lots of bench cut trails with breath taking views over the lake from a height of over 1000 meters! When we get to back to Riva its ice cream time at the famous Flora Gelateria.
Time to reflect on a great week's mountain bike holiday. We'll send on any pictures and videos we take of you trip.

Stroll around the grounds of Trinity College or take a tour of the Guinness factory.
Riding straight from the hotel door we quickly climb into the hills and offroad. Again the trails are sweetly crafted singletrack with high speed flowing corners, switch back climbs and even a few technical rock and root sections. They call Wicklow the 'Garden of Ireland' and it's no wonder with the picture postcard views of Powerscourt Waterfall and Lough Tay. Riding into the sun as we make our way south, to the highest point on today's ride is just over 600 meters, near Djouce Mountain- a popular spot for local mountain bikers.
Saddle up and get ready for some amazing singletrack trails and stunning views from the Dublin Mountains. At just over 500 meters above sea level, Three Rock Mountain boasts commanding views over Dublin Bay. It's an early start today with a 2.5 hour drive to Limerick on the west coast of Ireland. This is one of the biggest days on the bikes as we visit the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails, the largest trail network of its kind in Ireland. Forest road climbs lead you into tight twisty singletrack with loads of ups and downs, tight turns and technical rocky bits. The Castlepook loop is over 50 kilometres in length- tough forest road climbs are rewarded with sweeping fast descents guaranteed to leave you smiling.

In the afternoon we will drop you back to the airport or help you to your next accommodation if you are staying on for a few more days.
Trust us, the scenery is epic and the people are super friendly but we'll save you the tourism spiel, we know you're here to ride! Each venue is pretty unique with a mixture of soil, rock type and diverse woodland. Each day will be about 40km long and 1500mtrs climbing, we can do more or less depending on how we're feeling as a group. We've picked a video from each of our venues which we hope capture the friendly vibe at the events and also the type of trails at each location. Enjoy!
Fast, flowy and fun. Ballinastoe in County Wicklow has some of the best trails going and is part of a trail centre, so lots of hard wearing routes here. The views are just epic and there are plenty of places to explore. One of the easiest places to ride in terms of transitions to the next trail.
Rocky hard wearing trails that have been around for donkeys years. If you like tech trails there are a couple of nice runs here. The Dublin mountains are rich in heritage and culture and we know a couple of small traditional Irish pubs where you can experience some live Irish music over the best pint of Guinness around.
Carrick has hosted the Enduro World Series an incredible 3 times which speaks volumes about the trails. Check out the video below or search for EWS Ireland and you'll find tonnes of nice edits.
